boarders, and the Gentlemen beginning Mr. Fount Petersons house for

photographing. The Officers are very anxious for him to begin.

Saturday June 2 – I enjoy it here very much; my Aunt does all

in her power to make it pleasant, and if I and Will keep well, shall not

regret the trip for the novelty of it.

Saturday June 2 – Did our large ironing, and some in addition

for Aunt. In the course of the day Aunt managed to introduce us to

several of her Officers and friends; they are disappointed enough that

it is not sister Frank instead of her older sister, but this does not

                    affect me at all.

We can only see the top of Longs Peak from here, the Post is

so near the foot of the Mountains that the rest of the snowy range is

hidden but the view of the black or front hills: as they call them, is

                    beautiful.
Sunday morning. None of the folks rise early Sunday morning,

so Aunt and I had the house all cleaned up and plenty of time to get

to get breakfast before they came. After breakfast there were several came to

call on me and Aunt brought them in my room where I had seated myself to

write some letters undisturbed, as 'I supposed some of them were thought-

ful enough to not stop long to hinder me, but others were to much engaged

to think of that, so it broke into my arrangements considerable.

We had a late dinner and I was thinking of going to walk with

Mrs. Peterson and husband, when Capt. Smith called to ride after his

pony, which he had, in a buggy. I enjoyed it very much, the scenery was

                    beautiful.

Monday. Will has gone up in the mountains with the men for

poles, in great spirits, but I fear he will be cold, the weather is so
