boarders, and the Gentlemen beginning Mr. Fount Petersons house for
photographing.The Officers are very anxious for him to begin.
Saturday June 2 – I enjoy it here very much; my Aunt does all
in her power to make it pleasant, and if I and Will keep well, shall not
regret the trip for the novelty of it.
Saturday June 2 – Did our large ironing, and some in addition
for Aunt. In the course of the day Aunt managed to introduce us to
several of her Officers and friends; they are disappointed enough that
it is not sister Frank instead of her older sister, but this does not
affect me at all.
We can only see the top of Longs Peak from here, the Post is
so near the foot of the Mountains that the rest of the snowy range is
hidden but the view of the black or front hills: as they call them, is
beautiful.
Sunday morning. None of the folks rise early Sunday morning,
so Aunt and I had the house all cleaned up and plenty of time to get
to get breakfast before they came. After breakfast there were several came to
call on me and Aunt brought them in my room where I had seated myself to
write some letters undisturbed, as 'I supposed some of them were thought-
ful enough to not stop long to hinder me, but others were to much engaged
to think of that, so it broke into my arrangements considerable.
We had a late dinner and I was thinking of going to walk with
Mrs. Peterson and husband, when Capt. Smith called to ride after his
pony, which he had, in a buggy. I enjoyed it very much, the scenery was
beautiful.
Monday. Will has gone up in the mountains with the men for
poles, in great spirits, but I fear he will be cold, the weather is so
